Organisation Game
Team building; Team maintenance; Motivation
How often do a team fail to reach their full potential
because they ignore the basics - planning the work, allocating the tasks, monitoring
progress and revising the plan? This exercise gives the teams the chance to access
how they perform in a competitive environment. Use it as part of a formal course
or as an exercise to break down the barriers between team members.
- A collection of varied tasks for groups of 5-12
members.
- It comes with materials for three groups.
- Needs between one and a half and three hours
depending on how the exercise is structured.
Teamwork
Motivation; Team Management
Effective team managers need to get to know their
team members. What motivates them? What do they want from their job? The needs
of each individual then have to be juggled with the other members of the group
and the manager's resources to ensure that the team operates at maximum efficiency.
- A board game for groups of 3-6 members.
- It comes with materials for eight groups.
- Needs between one and two hours including discussion
time.
Well Done
Delegation; Motivation
You are overloaded with work and must delegate
some to one of your team. What criteria will you use? If the work is low status
and repetative what will the delegate gain from the experience? Will they be committed
to achieving an acceptable standard? Consideration of the needs of the delegate
as well as the delegator will lead to a better split of the work and a higher
standard of performance.
- A series of three exercises for groups of between
4-6 members.
- It comes with materials for four groups.
- If all three exercises are used consecutively
then it will need between 60 and 90 minutes.
