This game will raise the participant’s awareness
of good recruitment and retention practices. It does this by providing participants
with choices - the outcome of which have immediate and visible impacts. It will:
- Clearly demonstrate the purpose of the organisational
entry process
- Show that recruitment and retention issues relate
to all departments, not just personnel.
- Identify good practices, which if adopted will
improve the individuals and organisations ability to attract, select and retain
appropriate staff.

The game consists of three parts. The core
is a board game exploring the organisational entry process and the on-going effects
required to improve retention rates. Participants will face five types of
questions:

Slurp 2005: a case study in which participants
suggest key roles that may need attention or creation to meet future plans.

WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THE GAME
The most obvious beneficiaries will be those involved in the recruitment process
particularly general managers for whom recruitment is not a core skill area.
It will also benefit other staff all of whom exert an influence on new recruits.
Everyone plays a part in making a recruit feel welcome.
