Almost every magazine we read at the moment carries an article on coaching. It's easy to see why when you look at some of the research on training trends and how employees learn. Coaching has experienced the largest increase in use in the last few years, compared with other forms of training provision.
80% of managers believe that they would benefit from coaching/more coaching in their place of work.
On the one hand the amount of coaching that is being performed is increasing but as more is undertaken even more is required. Coaching is one of the most critical skills required by organisations if they are to fulfil their potential over the next three years.
The Coaching at Work Survey says 'Managers value coaching and are not getting enough of it. Managers recognise that what is good for them is good for everyone'.
Despite this many business are struggling to develop a coaching culture with 66% suggesting they are held back by competing business pressures and 52% by lack of internal skill and experience.
